PRIME OUTLETS—WILLIAMSBURG SENDS OUT A
“CATTLE CALL” TO LOCAL ARTISTS
TO JOIN AN “UDDERLY FASHIONABLE ART EXHIBIT”

WILLIAMSBURG, VA AUGUST 5, 2005 – Prime Outlets—Williamsburg invites local artists to design a cow for the Prime Outlets CowParade which will be coming to Williamsburg the first week of September. Submitted proposals will be accepted from now until Aug. 20, 2005 and the winning artist will be announced on Aug. 25, 2005. The winner will be provided with a blank fiberglass, life-size cow to paint his or her proposed design on. The commissioned artist will receive $1,000.

Although designs may be submitted by anyone, This Century Art Gallery of Williamsburg already has jumped aboard and forwarded the request for designs to its 200 members!

“We really are looking for a unique design," said Lisa Bates, marketing manager for Prime Outlets Williamsburg. "The finished product will join the other ten Prime Outlets cows that are touring Prime Outlets centers around the country. This is a great opportunity for a local Williamsburg artist to gain national exposure."

Proposals are due Aug. 20, 2005. Please contact Marge Abrams, creative director for CowParade Prime Outlets, at 860-561-4710 x18 or go to www.cowparade.com for information about submitting design proposals.

The Prime Outlets Cow Parade is modeled after Chicago’s popular Cows on Parade held in 1999. Since the Chicago Cows on Parade, there have been over 20 CowParade exhibits worldwide including New York City, London, Tokyo, Atlanta and Kansas City. Recently, the cows came home to the Chicago area when Prime Outlets Huntley in Illinois commissioned ten artist to create an, “Udderly Fashion-A-Bull Art Exhibit” held in conjunction with the center's Extreme Makeover Grand Opening Celebration. The event was so well received that Prime Outlets decided to "moo've it to other "Prime Pastures" or other Prime Outlet centers.

Prime Outlets—Williamsburg is ranked number one in the outlet industry (Value Retail News, 2004) and is located at 5715 Richmond Road in Williamsburg, Virginia. The 323,541-square-foot outlet center offers everyday savings of 30-70 percent off full retail prices and features an exciting collection of brand name retailers including: COACH, Nine West, Brooks Brothers, Jones New York, Coldwater Creek, Tommy Hilfiger, OshKosh B'Gosh, Kirkland's Home and BOSE. In 2005, Prime Outlets welcomed three new merchants including Calvin Klein, Ann Klein and Villeroy & Boch. Before the year ends, Banana Republic, Michael Kors, Under Armour, Ann Taylor and an expanded Nike will join the merchant mix. Directions: I-64 to Exit 234; then, take 199 to Rt. 60 toward Williamsburg.
